WELCOME VOLLEYBALL FAMILIES
Here you will find the answers to questions on every activity in the Minnetonka Volleyball program. We hope you find it helpful. Additional questions may be directed towards the Varsity Head Coach Karl Katzenberger: email@example.com
Summer volleyball is back at Minnetonka on 6/15. There are some major changes to our normal summer volleyball due to COVID restrictions. Our first priority will always be the health and safety of players and staff. We will abide by all guidelines given to us at all times to put well being foremost. Open workouts are held in two waves each day - Mondays 5-7pm and 7-9pm, Wednesdays 5-7pm and 7-9pm and Fridays 9-11am and 11-1pm. Please click here to read the rules for volleyball this summer.
1) You MUST have completed the COVID waiver in order to participate during the summer. If you do not feel it is safe or if you are showing any symptoms at all STAY HOME. Missing summer volleyball in the name of safety is not a negative!
2) You MUST email firstname.lastname@example.org to register for Monday, Wednesday and Friday open workout sessions as there is a cap on participants. The cost for the sessions is $10 per session or $100 for the entire summer (25 possible sessions at $4/session. This fee should be viewed through the lens you are paying coaches for semi private small group instruction. Coaches will be on hand to work with your daughter.) One hour is curriculum based and the other hour is open and geared around play. If you would like to attend the instructional portion of the session but for whatever reason cannot pay - please contact Karl ahead of time. Volleyball will be accessible to all. Because of the cap on players this summer, out of fairness - all players must preregister and pay for each session. This is a change from years past, thank you for your understanding.
August session, although labeled as "Intermediate" is geared for students entering 9th and 10th grade that would like to prep for the high school tryout the following week. Click here to register for August try-out prep or Beginner/Intermediate sessions.
As always - we are thankful for the opportunity for the players to see each other again after a long layoff. I am looking forward to working with each family member this coming summer and if you have any questions - please let me know at email@example.com Thanks!
Please use the sign up sheet by clicking here:
After you sign up - email firstname.lastname@example.org and you wil receive a return email confirming the session or asking for a reschedule. You can pick which coach you would like to work with and what time and day.
Happy Summer! While summer break is just starting, the High School volleyball season will be here before you know it. In an effort to help families plan their summer vacations, here are some key dates for August that you may want to put on your calendar:
Week of August 10th - Captains will be engaging the girls in a week of volleyball fun, this is not mandatory, but encouraged for all levels from incoming freshman to seniors. Normally this is a couple hours in the morning, more details to come as the date gets closer.
Week of August 17th - Tryout Week! All girls are expected to be at the high school all week. Tryouts will last all day with a morning session and afternoon session. Teams are normally selected by Friday for all levels, Freshman A & B, Sophomore, JV, and Varsity.
Friday, August 21st - Varsity Only - there will be a mandatory meeting for the girls that make Varsity on Friday night, more details to come after teams are selected.
Week of August 24th - All teams will have two a day practices, so expect to be at the high school every day, all day! Pictures will also be taken this week, so please plan on being in town as we must have them taken early to get the program finalized and printed.
A friendly reminder that the volleyball program does not run itself, we need help from all our amazing parents! Here are a few things to keep in mind as part of our volleyball community:
Volunteer - All parents will need to complete volunteer duties which will include things like concession duty, committee chair, and committee members. Together we make this a wonderful experience for all our daughters!
Fundraising - There will be a fundraiser this year and girls on all teams will need to participate. The booster club provides equipment, funding for all themed home games, banquet meals for the girls, gifts for the seniors, assistant coaches salary, and many additional things that make this a special program. To stay financially strong we need to engage in annual fundraising.
Donations - On that same note, we ask each of our parents to make a donation as well. To run this program it costs a minimum of $100/player. If your daughter plays club volleyball you will find this number to be very reasonable compared to your spring club costs. Again, the program doesn’t thrive without all of your support, so please keep this in mind as you continue to support your daughters passion for the game!
Thanks so much for taking the time to review the details for the upcoming 2020 Minnetonka High School Volleyball season. We can’t wait to see our girls on the court and ready to defend their Section Championship!
4th place at the State Volleyball Tournament - congratulations on a great season!
